Mostly spent these past few days organising. Today we had an excellent sit down and thrashed out how many people I’ll need, and where, plus what can be done to get into the papers, radio and TV a bit more.
Also, Labor’s press release accusing me of great and terrible evils has surfaced online via Adam Carr’s profile of Solomon. Have a look if you feel like a hearty gut laugh.

Woah. I just read the ALP press release. I find it very ironic, where they refer to you as “Active at Charles Darwin University and the University of Sydney since - at least 2000″ and “The Australian Liberal Students Federation still lists Jacques Chester as the Liberal Club contact for the Northern Territory”.
Both allude to the fact that, yes you are indeed a Territorian, or at the very least have been active in the Northern Territory since the year 2000! They still claim after this that you’re not a Territorian. Under this logic, leave the Territory for more then a few months and your no longer a local.
I’m sorry, but it seems going down south to University is tatamount to abandoning your home. However people are continually forced to do so due to the lack of course alternatives, brought about by a lack of funding and staffing at Charles Darwin University.
The Labour government wishes to turn Darwin into a cultural icon. The proposed waterfront white elephant.. err I mean culture development includes of all things, a wave pool. Last time I looked a wave pool came under the heading “Theme Park”. I would hardly call Dreamworld or Wet ‘n’ Wild cultural icons, yet here the Labour government is merrily building away their own theme park.
No one can tell me that the University of Sydney is not a cultural icon. With its 100+ year history. Something the Labour government needs to understand is that culture and tradition take time and effort to build. Not something you can bandaid with a fancy pool. Perhaps the money spent on this would have been better spent developing the Northern Territory’s learning and education centres.
This carefree use of facts and figures is quite typical of the Labour party here in the Northern Territory. “Top Enders don’t like having the wool pulled over our eyes” indeed. Its time too wake up Clare.
Sorry went on a little rant there. Comment Ha! More like full blown post.
Did anybody else notice when they clicked on David Tollners campaign website they were taken to a Dog Breed Enthusiast website. Too funny!
It’s interesting that out of all the candidates Jacques appears to be the only member running that was actually BORN in Darwin.
“ARRRGHHH THE WOOL I CAN’T SEEE!!!!!!!”
Appalling, is probably the only thing i can think of in relation to the ALP’s latest mud pie. As mentioned above, you are a Territorian. You did spend time in Sydney to study and you also did move more recently to Perth to continue your education. 2-3 months later you lose your Territorian title apparently.
The report is a misleading and distorted interpretation of the truth simply put out to hurt your credibility as a candidate. I don’t know about the rest of you but this only makes me angry and remotivates me. But to state that you are not “Territorian” is unfair and unwarranted. In my opinion (as a born and raised Darwinian), being a Territorian has a lot more to do with being situated in the Territory. For starters, True Territorians do not go out of their way to lie, cheat or otherwise mislead their fellow Territorians. So who is the real Stooge?
Also I would like to commend you Jacques on your composure on these remarks in dealing with these comments, because they are insulting and even worse completly UNTRUE!
Just remember that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and every time these cretins print your name they are getting the LDP message out to more people.
You should spin this all back around by saying that you are NOT an independent candidate, and then launch into a tirade about the real issues that the LDP (tax and welfare reform, civil liberties et c).
Just don’t waste too much of your time with these clowns.
